Ditching Amazon is a power move, for sure! However, pulling this off with two young kids and even dogs in this household is virtually impossible unless my wife and I could make oodles more money. Any tips for us slaves of the system?

I haven't tried these tricks for Amazon (having to cough up money does the trick for me) but it has worked for other vices. Couple of easy ones - drop the app from your mobile device, or at least remove the shortcut from your screen. And if your point of entry is your laptop then change your password and set it up to not remember you on the device and don't store it on password manager :).
Adding just 1 more step to get there drops one's interest very very quickly.
